Candy's Cats, Inc. would not be what it is today without the help of our volunteers. We have several volunteer opportunities always available; Foster Volunteers, Adoption Counselors, Feline Sanitation Engineers, Administrative Support.  If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please review the information below and complete one of our Volunteer Forms depending on your area of interest.

REQUIREMENTS TO VOLUNTEER:

  1. Must love cats.
  2. Must have transportation to a volunteering site, or have the necessary equipment to volunteer remotely.

We are currently seeking the following volunteers to help us save kitty lives.

FOSTER VOLUNTEERS:

Foster Volunteers provide a temporary home for a rescued cat while they find their forever homes. The more fosters we have, the more lives we can save!
Full Time Fosters take in a cat or kitten from our intake queue or from another foster and provide temporary housing until they are adopted and placed in their forever home. This can be as short as one week or take several weeks.
Kitten Fosters are responsible for caring for the youngest arrivals until they are adopted. A Kitten Foster typically fosters a litter of kittens that are not yet fully vaccinated. They require a little more care and attention so kitten fosters should have a somewhat flexible schedule.

Your commitment to a foster is:
* You provide a safe environment and daily care
* You provide unconditional love and affection
* You bring your foster to Candy's Cats adoption events
* You help our adoption coordinator (AC) by providing up-to-date information and photos of your foster pet. You can also participate in screening potential adopters and marketing your foster cat for adoption.
* Letting us know if you need help!

We provide:
* Routine and emergency medical care at one of our partner vets...at no cost to you.
* Essential supplies
* Marketing of your cat by posting him or her on multiple websites
* Access to adoption events every weekend, a great way to find loving homes for your fosters
* Support by our network of volunteers who are here to help and do anything we can to make fostering a great experience!

Fostering is the most hands-on volunteer opportunity available in rescue! The number of cats we can save depends on the number of fosters we have helping us.

ADOPTION COUNSELORS:

Candy's Cats has opportunities for Adoption Counselors at our weekend Adoption Events at the Winter Garden Petsmart.  Adoption Counselors are the people who ensure that each of our cats and kittens gets adopted into the right FOREVER home. The position involves talking to people who are interested in adopting a cat to match them with the right cat. Adoption Counselors facilitate the adoption process by helping people choose a cat that's right for their family, conducting the initial screening of each applicant, and seeing that all applicable forms and contracts are complete for an adoption.

We provide you with training and the tools. This is a recurring opportunity for the right person.

CAT CARE TECHNICIANS:

Do you love cats? If you love cats and would like to interact with some during the week, this is a great opportunity. Candy's Cats keeps cats at the PetSmart Adoption Center at Winter Garden Village. During the week we need volunteers to go into the store and take care of our cats who are staying there. There are usually 6-10 cats in the adoption center and they need 2-3 per day visits for food, water, litter box cleaning, tidy up of their cubicles, some love and play time. It usually takes 1-2 hours per visit.

This is a recurring volunteer opportunity with 1-2 hour shifts available Monday through Friday. There are a.m. and p.m. shifts available; a.m. is before noon and p.m. is late afternoon / early evening. Volunteers usually select one or two shifts per week. Once you are trained we would want you to set a recurring schedule for some length of time.

In addition, we need volunteers 7 days a week at our Apopka Adoption Cottage and Welcome Center, located at 307 W. Main Street, Apopka, FL 32712.

TRANSPORTATION:

Transporters are asked to help us with our transportation needs, so a reliable car, and insurance is a must. Your donation of gas, your car and time is so appreciated.

LAUNDRY:

Laundry is an essential part of taking care of our cats we list it separately. This can be done in a laundromat or in your home. Your donation of laundry supplies and picking up/returning the laundry to either Apopka or Winter Garden locations is appreciated.
